Sedona based painter, Lauren Cummings, bears witness to wild spaces with her unique approach to plein air. Her practice with presence and paint is a culmination of accepting the moment’s physical construct and the current state of her psyche to find awareness beyond a linear timeline that brings “euphoric peace”. A confident handling of oil paint is informed by her education at the Tyler School of Art & Architecture in Philadelphia, PA, where she obtained a BFA in Painting & Drawing in 2018 after a summer semester in Tokyo, Japan. Studies in western and contemporary Japanese art history continue to evolve their influence on her work.
